The competition, which seeks to stimulate creativity and cultural diffusion among young audiences, invites participants to publish their reinterpretations on Instagram using the hashtags #VersionaThyssen26 and #VersionaThyssen, mentioning @museothyssen and the original artwork that inspired them. Registrations are open until July 5th.
Prizes range from 500 to 1,000 euros, in addition to other museum-related benefits. Six masterpieces from the collection have been selected for this edition: 'David with the Head of Goliath and Two Soldiers' by Valentin de Boulogne; 'The Death of Hyacinth' by Tiepolo; 'Portrait of Madame Bouret as Diana' by Jean-Marc Nattier; 'Amazon on Front' by Manet; 'Portrait of Millicent', Duchess of Sutherland, by John Singer Sargent; and 'Love, Love, Love. Homage to Gertrude Stein' by Charles Demuth.
Artist Okuda San Miguel is participating as a special guest and is part of the jury, which also includes representatives from the National Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the Community of Madrid, and McDonald's Spain.
The awards ceremony will take place on July 17th, coinciding with the late-night opening of several rooms in the permanent collection. During the event, some of the reinterpretations will be exhibited alongside the original works that inspired them.
This collaboration agreement also includes support for the upcoming exhibition 'The Freudian Universe of Dalí', scheduled for presentation at the museum this autumn. The National Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum welcomed 1,003,455 visitors in 2025, with 51% being Spanish, of whom 78% were from the Community of Madrid. The main international markets were the United States, Italy, France, and the United Kingdom.
The Community of Madrid considers this initiative to reinforce the objectives of its Regional Tourism Strategy 2023-2026, aiming to consolidate a quality tourism model and enhance collaboration with cultural institutions to diversify the offerings.
