The conference, titled 'Life Being a Spider', will be led by Fernando Cortés-Fossati, who will use the majestic Iberian tarantula, Lycosa hispanica, as a focal point to explore the astonishing abilities of these arachnids.
Aspects such as their 'chemical arsenals', their role as predators, complex courtship rituals, and the constant struggle for survival in their natural environment, described as 'as beautiful as it is wild', will be addressed.
The event will take place on Tuesday, December 15, 2026, at 7 PM at the National Museum of Natural Sciences. Seating is limited, and reservations are required by sending an email to mcnc104@mncn.csic.es.
