Carlos Lorenzo, producer of the report and CEO of Lilicar Films, highlighted the educational purpose of the production, made in collaboration with Zoomsport Films. "'Diego Forlán's Ascent' is truly an educational document, to show that to become a great professional, you have to work hard, there are many failures, as seen in the documentary, but also a lot of effort to become who you are. And that is its greatest legacy," he explained.

The two-time Golden Boot winner and 2010 World Cup Golden Ball winner recalled key moments of his career. He recounted how, after being chosen as the best player of the South Africa World Cup, he decided to gift a replica of his Golden Ball to his Atlético de Madrid teammates after winning the Super Cup, a gesture that, according to 'La Tota' Lugano, spurred them to win the Copa América.
