Agents from the National Police and Madrid Municipal Police have arrested the parents of a two-month-old baby found abandoned in a home in Madrid's Tetuán district.

The infant showed signs of dehydration, high fever, and was covered in excrement, according to police sources. The intervention occurred last Sunday, around 8:15 AM, after emergency services received a call reporting a fight inside a residence in the aforementioned district.
Upon arrival, officers were met by a woman exhibiting clear signs of intoxication. Once inside the dwelling, they found the property in extremely unsanitary conditions, with accumulated garbage, dog feces, and cockroaches present even among food stored in the refrigerator.
In one of the rooms, police discovered a man lying on a bed, allegedly unable to speak due to drug consumption. In the same room was the baby, barely two months old, with clear signs of neglect. As reported by the newspaper El Mundo, the infant tested positive for cocaine. Police sources also indicated that the mother admitted to consuming alcohol and drugs while breastfeeding the child.
The arrested individuals are the biological parents of the minor: a Bolivian national born in 1996 and a Colombian man born in 1987, the latter with numerous prior police records. Both were arrested as alleged perpetrators of child abandonment and for assaulting an authority figure, as they reportedly attempted to attack officers during the intervention.
After being rescued, the baby was taken to La Paz University Hospital for a complete medical evaluation and subsequently placed under the guardianship of the Community of Madrid. Officers from the Municipal Police took charge of the dog found in the home, which also showed evident signs of abandonment and neglect.
