Journalist Antonio Campuzano has warned of the risk that, in his opinion, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the Community of Madrid, poses to the political project of the Popular Party. According to Campuzano, Ayuso's strategy directly clashes with the moderate line that the party's national leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, aims to implement.
Campuzano criticizes that Ayuso's opposition to the government of Pedro Sánchez manifests in an omission of responsibilities within the Madrid regional sphere, delegating to autonomous competencies to focus her attacks on the central Government president. This dynamic, according to the author, was evident during Ayuso's recent trip to Mexico, where controversies with Sánchez overshadowed commercial and economic opportunities, and the figure of Hernán Cortés was revisited.
The journalist evokes the words of professor Nuccio Ordine to illustrate the situation, recalling Montesquieu's reflection on the primacy of humanity over nationality. Campuzano believes that Ayuso has generated an unnecessary crisis, particularly detrimental in the context of an electoral process in Andalusia, a key territory for the Popular Party.
Ayuso's figure is added to other internal PP issues, such as the management by Valencian president Mazón. Campuzano suggests that a prudent style of coexistence with the central government, in contrast to Madrid's belligerence, could widen the gap with the opposition. While Juan Manuel Moreno in Andalusia collaborates and expresses sorrow in incidents, Ayuso's vision is based on media confrontation.
The article notes that no other regional administration of the Popular Party has adopted Ayuso's confrontational strategy. It is expected that the moderate path within the party will prevail, avoiding the exclusionary force that, according to Campuzano, has made a calm conservative option unrecognizable. The danger of fragmentation within the PP increases if the Madrid president's style of power persists.
