Yellow alert for extreme heat in the Community of Madrid

Temperatures are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius in several parts of the region this Monday.

The State Meteorological Agency has issued a yellow alert for high temperatures in the Community of Madrid for this Monday, with readings potentially reaching 40 degrees.

The extreme heat event will remain active between 1:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Forecasts indicate high temperatures across the region, with a slight increase in minimums in the Sierra area, where highs could reach 37 degrees.
In the rest of the Madrid territory, maximum temperatures will reach 39 degrees. Light and variable winds are expected, although authorities do not rule out strong gusts linked to convective phenomena.
Regarding heat-related mortality, the MoMo system of the Carlos III Health Institute estimated that 93 deaths related to heat occurred in the Community of Madrid during the month of June.
