The San Fernando de Henares City Council has approved a motion in defense of public and quality healthcare, with the support of all municipal groups except the PP.

In an extraordinary session, the municipal council of San Fernando de Henares gave the green light to a proposal agreed upon with the Platform in Defense of Public Healthcare of the Henares. The motion, which received favorable votes from all groups except the PP, aims to improve healthcare services in the town.
Mayor Javier Corpa criticized that those affected by the Metro are being ignored and that the Community of Madrid's contribution to the reconstruction of the Justo Gómez Sports Center is being opposed. "Once again, they prioritize their party affiliations and their president over the general interest," he stated, assuring that "all initiatives that involve defending this town and its residents will be presented, no matter who dislikes it."
The proposal demands detailed information from the regional executive regarding the works at the San Fernando II Health Center, located in Plaza de Ondarreta, which have led to the relocation of the Continuous Care Point (PAC) to Coslada since October 3rd. It requests details on the expected duration of the works and their execution phases, as well as the return of the PAC to its original facilities.
It is also requested that, while the interventions are ongoing, the PAC service be provided within the town itself, using alternative locations such as the Los Alperchines Primary Care Center, on Calle Córdoba, or any other health facility to avoid unnecessary travel for users.
The motion calls for continuous care with medical presence, reinstating the previous emergency system that closed during the pandemic, which would prevent overcrowding at the Hospital del Henares and alleviate pressure on healthcare professionals.
Other key points include the reinforcement and replacement of lost specialties, with a focus on pediatrics; adapting resources to the current population needs; the reopening of the inoperative wing of the Hospital del Henares, which has 40 beds; and the request for a meeting with the Ministry of Health to discuss these matters.

Faced with cuts and privatization policies, we will continue fighting for this fundamental right enshrined in the Constitution, for public and quality healthcare, which is a guarantee of equal opportunities.

Following the plenary session, a Citizen Assembly was held to discuss further actions.
