The city of San Fernando de Henares is preparing to host a new edition of the National Amateur Theater Contest 'El Moscardón', a well-established event in the local cultural programming. The event will be held at the Federico García Lorca Municipal Theater.
This year, the contest received a total of 67 submissions from theater companies across eight autonomous communities. Following expert evaluation, six companies have been selected, with three more on reserve. The Councilor for Culture, Pablo Sanz, highlighted the high participation and quality of the submitted works, calling 'El Moscardón' a highly prestigious event.
Sanz emphasized the variety of the program, which includes classical and contemporary theater, drama, and comedy, aiming to bring culture closer to residents and provide a stage for amateur companies. Four of the selected companies are from the Community of Madrid, while two come from Salamanca and Alicante.
All performances will be free. Tickets can be collected on the day of each performance at the box office of the Federico García Lorca Municipal Theater, two hours before the show begins.
The program includes plays such as 'ENTREPASOS' by MARU-JASP (Alcalá de Henares) on September 19, 'LA BODA DE LOS PEQUEÑOS BURGUESES' by ASOCIACIÓN CULTURAL TEATRO AL ALBA (Getafe) on September 20, and '5 SEGUNDOS Y 120 KILOS' by MÉTRICA PURA (Salamanca) on September 26.
Performances will continue with 'TEFÍA: VAGOS Y MALEANTES' by LA LOCANDIERA TEATRO (Alcalá de Henares) on September 27, 'CHICAS MALAS, EL MUSICAL' by ASOCIACIÓN CULTURAL SOMNIS (Coslada) on October 2, and 'LA VIGILIA DEL PINCEL' by TEATRO EN CONSTRUCCIÓN (Elche) on October 3.
The contest will conclude on Sunday, October 4, with the traditional Awards Ceremony and the presentation of the new theater season, where the best performances will be announced and upcoming shows will be previewed.
