The jury for the City of Alcalá de Henares Arts and Letters Prize has decided to grant the award to actor Imanol Arias. The award ceremony will take place in Alcalá de Henares on October 9th, coinciding with the local festival commemorating the baptism of Miguel de Cervantes.
Imanol Arias, one of the most recognized names in the Spanish acting scene, has developed an extensive and varied career spanning over 70 films, around thirty television series, and nearly 40 theater productions. His versatility and commitment to culture have earned him numerous accolades throughout his career.
Iconic characters such as El Lute, Inspector Flores from ‘Brigada Central’, or Antonio Alcántara from ‘Cuéntame cómo pasó’ are among the most memorable in his filmography. Notably, the series ‘Cuéntame cómo pasó’ filmed dozens of episodes in Alcalá de Henares, forging a special bond between the actor and the city, for which he served as pregonero (town crier) in 2002.
The City of Alcalá de Henares Arts and Letters Prize has been awarded since 1998 with the aim of recognizing and promoting literary and artistic creation, research, and humanistic and scientific dissemination, honoring those who have enriched the common cultural heritage.
Other distinguished actors and actresses such as Fernando Fernán Gómez, Lola Herrera, and Adolfo Marsillach have received this award in previous editions.
